Christoph Miethke GmbH & Co. KG has been developing and producing neurosurgical implants for the therapy of hydrocephalus since 1992, and these implants are implanted worldwide. We are looking for a creative and hands-on embedded software developer to join our R&D team. Are you interested in playing a key role in shaping the future of smart implants, wearables and medical devices as part of our R&D team?
Our product developments include precision-engineered valve implants, sensor implants for measuring intracranial pressure, as well as accessories in the field of silicone processing and instruments and medical electrical equipment. We all work closely with our customers (patients, physicians & B.Braun/Aesculap sales) to understand requirements and difficulties and develop customised solutions.


  • design and development of modular embedded software architectures for medical devices
  • creation of requirements and specifications of software components using agile ALM tools (Matrix Requirements, GitLab)
  • design, implementation and testing of hardware-related firmware for various microprocessor architectures
  • interdisciplinary collaboration with other design experts (electronics, mechanics)


  • degree in computer science, communications engineering, electrical engineering or comparable qualification
  • at least 3 years of relevant work experience in software development, ideally in the field of life science or in a comparable regulated environment is desirable
  • good knowledge of programming firmware for embedded systems in C/C++, RTOS experience is an advantage
  • knowledge of microcontroller architectures (e.g. ARM Cortex-M, MSP430) and their peripherals (interrupts, timers, DMA, ADC)
  • knowledge of common communication interfaces and protocols like UART, I2C, SPI
  • knowledge of wireless transmission methods and radio technologies (e.g. Bluetooth Low Energy, RFID)
  • knowledge of a scripting language such as Python is desirable
  • good handling of measurement technology (e.g. oscilloscope, logic analyser)
  • experience in commissioning and debugging embedded hardware
  • independent and solution-oriented way of working combined with creativity and goal orientation
  • good command of written and spoken English
